A long time ago, Android allowed users to display widgets on the lockscreen, a feature that was unfortunately removed with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Since then, widgets have been confined to the home screen. While some manufacturers, like Samsung, have introduced limited versions of lockscreen widgets, users often found themselves restricted to the widgets created by their device makers.
However, the Lockscreen Widgets app brings back this functionality along with some exciting new features:
Paged Interface
Lockscreen Widgets presents itself as a paged frame over your lockscreen.
Easy Addition of Widgets
Simply tap the plus button located on the last page of the frame to add a widget.
Individual Widget Pages
Each widget occupies its own dedicated page.
Reordering Widgets
You can easily rearrange widgets by pressing, holding, and dragging them left or right.
Editing Mode
Tap the frame with two fingers to enter editing mode, allowing you to resize and reposition the frame, as well as remove current widgets.
Home Screen Widgets Compatibility
Any widget from your home screen can be added to the lockscreen.
The app provides a range of settings you can modify:
Opaque Background
Adjust the widget frame's background to opaque to overlay other lockscreen elements.
Hide on Notifications
Choose to hide the widget when notifications are displayed on the lockscreen.
And all of this can be done without needing ADB or root access! You can grant the necessary privileges directly through your device without using a computer.
For optimal functionality, Lockscreen Widgets will request the following permissions:
Accessibility Service
This must be enabled for the app to display on the lockscreen. You'll be prompted to enable it during the initial setup and whenever you open the app.
Notification Listener
This permission ensures that the widget frame hides when notifications appear on the lockscreen. You’ll receive a prompt if this permission is needed.
*Please note that Lockscreen Widgets only works on Android Lollipop 5.1 and later because the system features for displaying content on the lockscreen were absent in version 5.0.*
With Lockscreen Widgets, users can beautifully customize their lock screens. By moving widgets from the home screen to the lock screen, users can quickly access the latest notifications from applications without unlocking their devices—perfect for busy individuals.
You can add various widgets including:
Weather
Messages
Phone
Gallery
Alarm
Calculators
Contacts
Dictionaries
Social Media Platforms
Gone are the days of a monotonous lock screen filled only with images. Now you can check multiple applications directly from your lock screen!
