In the card game Call Break, a player’s score is determined by their bidding strategy. Players earn points equal to their bid amount if they successfully win at least the number of tricks they bid on. Any extra tricks taken, known as Over Tricks, provide an additional 0.1 points each. Failing to meet the bid results in a deduction from your score. After the first four rounds, scores are tallied to set specific objectives for the final round, where winners are announced.
Call Break requires four players and uses a standard 52-card deck. The game involves five rounds, with a unique dealer selected before playback begins. The sequence in which players draw cards determines who becomes the first dealer and the direction of play. For subsequent rounds, the dealer position rotates counterclockwise.
At the start of each round, cards are dealt in a clockwise motion from the dealer's right. This prevents players from viewing each other's hands, ensuring each player receives 13 cards.
To secure a positive score, players must aim to win the tricks during their rounds. The trick lead starts with the player next to the dealer, using any card from any suit. If spades are played, the highest card of that suit wins the trick. In the absence of spades, the highest card of the led suit prevails.
Players are encouraged to play high-value cards to maximize their chances of winning.
A player who meets or exceeds their bidding threshold earns points equal to their bid. Every additional trick beyond the bid adds an extra 0.1 points. Conversely, failing to achieve the stated bid results in a points deduction. Scores after four rounds help inform players' strategies for the final round, concluding with the announcement of winners.
